Generations

Generations is our faith formation program traditionally for grades 6–8, though we are happy to welcome youth of other ages who want to join. It meets on Sunday afternoons from 12:30–2:00 PM, three times a year, in six-week sessions. We partner with other ELCA congregations and rotate between churches for our gatherings. Sessions begin in the fall (usually September) and wrap up by June.

Why Parents & Sponsors Participate

We believe parents and adult sponsors are the most important teachers of faith. That’s why each student attends Generations with a parent or sponsor. Adults often find this time just as meaningful—an opportunity to deepen their own faith, build friendships, and share wisdom and support with other families.

Program Overview

Youth learn most about faith not from books, but by watching the adults in their lives—how they worship, pray, speak, and live out their values. With that in mind, Generations is a two-year program designed to help both students and adults:

  • Explore core practices and stories of the Christian faith
  • Connect faith to everyday life
  • Ask hard questions in a brave and supportive space
  • Build lasting relationships across generations

At the end of the two years, youth are invited (but never pressured) to affirm their faith as confirmed members of our congregation.
